Beatlemania was a term used during
the 1960s to describe the fan frenzy
particularly demonstrated by young
teen girls directed toward The Beatles
during the early years of their success.

‘Beatlemania’ was characterised by
intense levels of hysteria at the actual
concerts played by the band and during
the band’s arrivals and travels to and
from locations.

The Beatles never took it seriously but
felt themselves “trapped” by their own
popularity.

In 1965 the Beatles quit touring because
they stated that the “screaming of the fans
got to a point that they could not even hear
their own instruments”

The Beatles were tired of the road, tired of
each other, and tired of the “bubblegum pop”
that the studios had been demanding from
them…

it was time for a change

Paul came up with the idea of a fictitious
band and to “further the illusion” by going
so far as actually laying down tracks as
this group to give them the much needed
freedom that they desperately wanted for
experimentation..

It was Lennon’s sense of humour that the
group would be modelled after a marching
band that he had seen on the ‘telly’ after
a session of recreational drug usage

lighting, unusual camera angles and color filtering
added in post-production.
Reflecting the fact that the group no longer wanted
to perform live, the group decided to let the songs
speak for themselves

false….before that there was a jukebox called a scopitone that played music videos. there were music videos produced specifically for this video jukebox. here is one by bobby vee from 1963….a few years before strawberry fields.

bubblegm pop was a term hat was created around 1967 or 68….remember the bubblegum music of ohio express, the archies, and 1910 fruitgum co??
